Participate in social media challenges, activities and more at SG Cares Giving Week 2020

It’s the season of gifting, and given the current climate we’re in, it’ll be important to spread the festive cheer, especially among those who need it most. So from now till Dec 7, seize the opportunity to participate in SG Cares Giving Week 2020, where you’ll receive the chance to do some good for the community while having fun.

First, you’ll want to mark your calendars for all the exciting shows that are available on the first-ever SG Cares Giving Week Virtual Giving Hub and streamed via the SG Cares Giving Week’s Facebook page. Besides the launch of Giving Week which is held online by the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) in partnership with SG Cares and the National Council of Social Services (NCSS), also check out everything from performances by the Esplanade to a Christmas watch party.

Feel free to enjoy the a cappella highlights of Voices 2020 before laughing aloud at Giving Moments by Dream Academy that’s hosted by Suhaimi Yusof with guest appearances by Dim Sum Dollies, Kumar, Sebastian Tan and more.

Show your support for other great causes when you sign up for workshops such as Bhangra With A Purpose – Bhangra 101; this workshop shares the joy of dance and will only cost you a $10 donation to the Sikh Welfare Council Singapore (SIWEC). Otherwise, a similar donation will also earn you a chance to learn how to craft Bhangra Tassels with just a ball of yarn and materials you can find at home.

And that’s not all. Also partake in the #MyHeartsBeatsFor Social Media Challenge and share a photo of a cause you’re passionate about with a heart emoji on your Facebook or Instagram account and tag @GivingWeekSG and hashtags #MyHeartBeatsFor #GivingWeekSG. The top three most creative posts will receive surprise prizes, while allowing you to effectively spread the word about important causes.

Finally, join in the Giving partners’ upcoming activities as well. With Guocoland, redeem or donate a $10 Guoco Tower voucher with a minimum spend of $40 at the mall; donated vouchers will be given to beneficiary partners to purchase meals for families with lower income.

There’s also the participating Far East Mall where you can give generously by simply donating your ShopFarEast Points to the Community Chest through the ShopFarEast app.

Do give what you can this festive season, and remember that every action no matter how little will go a long way in helping the less fortunate.
