Support a good cause by taking your furkid out to this jazz concert for dogs

In light of the recent music festival avalanche, here’s one that couples good music with a great cause. Jazz for Dogs 2019 is a fundraising evening hosted by Singapore’s oldest animal welfare group, Action for Singapore Dogs. After its well-received inauguration in 2017, the second edition this year aims to achieve greater charitable heights, while delivering stellar jazz performances for both humans and canines alike.

A lineup of local crooners and instrumentalists will be gracing the event, like jazz veteran Anne Weerapass; UK-born, Singapore-based Rob Collins; and the Guitar Ensemble of Methodist Girls’ School. Other silver-voiced jazz specialists for the night include Carol Gomez, Lily Hargrove, Skye Sirena, Aaron Lee’s Jazz Quartet and the Raindogs.

Although the swing celebration is absolutely free to observe, regardless of leg count, support in the form of purchasing a festive picnic basket is highly encouraged and appreciated. Each picnic basket, good for two people, is tagged at $88 and contains $200 worth of food, beverages and themed merchandise. Find treats such as Shake Shack’s famed Frozen Custard, some wine, a picnic mat as well as a limited edition bandana for dogs inside. Don’t leave your furry one out—human-grade home-cooked meals from Furry’s Kitchen are also available for order at just $10 per portion.

Consider attending even if you don’t have a furry accompaniment to come with; the event is held in hopes of raising money for ASD’s humane stray dog reduction initiative where strays are trapped to be neutered and rehomed. Rescued pups will serve as adorable ambassadors for the festival, so you’ll get to mingle with furballs regardless.

Jazz for Dogs 2019 happens Aug 18 from 5pm-7.30pm at the Singapore Botanic Gardens. More info here.
