It’s time to “Make Time For A Holiday”. At least that’s what Sentosa hopes we’ll be doing during the last two months of the year. Singapore’s own holiday island is welcoming residents with diverse new activities and programmes, ranging from heritage trails, guided tours and cocktail masterclasses to special getaway deals.
Among the over 50 activities offered are the Sentosa Insider Tours. Designed to showcase a different side of Sentosa, these tours offer insights into the workings of its attractions, as well as hands-on experiences that will bring guests closer to the island’s nature and heritage. Here are three highlights.
Hands-on, interactive programmes
Ever wanted to know how Madame Tussauds Singapore’s wax figures are created? Now you can. “Behind The Magic” is a 90-minute experience where you’ll go behind the scenes with wax artists, and try your hand at wax painting and hair insertion. Remember to bring the kids too, as they’ll enjoy making their own wax souvenir.
If you’d rather learn about bungee jumping than doing the actual activity, sign up for “How We Defy Gravity” by AJ Hackett Sentosa. This interactive programme includes a behind-the-scenes tour where you’ll learn about the technical, educational and thrill aspects of the attraction, such as the construction of bungee cords and the science behind the Bungy Jump and Giant Swing. This programme will be launched at the end of November, so check the website for updates.
Then there is the ReDiscovery Cruise by Royal Albatross. Go on a short fun cruise, and get a glimpse on how ships navigated the vast oceans in the past, like how Sir Stamford Raffles first navigated the Straits of Malacca. While enjoying Sentosa’s beautiful coastline, you’ll also learn how to craft a simple item out of rope and bring home a souvenir.
Other Insider Tours include the “Gai Gai Tour” (a guided tour around Mount Faber Park to Faber Point), “The Rock @ Blakang Mati” (discover more about the area during World World II), and “Marine ConservAction” (learn about the importance of keeping beaches clean for marine life).
