Buckle up, because thrill-seekers are in for another heart-thumping ride at Clarke Quay.
You may be familiar with the GX-5 Extreme Swing that plummets 40 metres at 120km/h up and over the Singapore River. Now it’s time to up the adrenaline level with the Slingshot.
This is not for the faint-of-heart, as Asia’s tallest slingshot will catapult riders to 70 metres high at 160km/h.
Designed to simulate a volcanic eruption, the Slingshot platform tilts the two-seater gondola into a reclined position and lowers riders into the heart of the “volcano” before propelling them towards the skies at a force of up to 4G.
Its propulsion power comes from a mechanism with almost 200 springs and two sets of steel wire cables to provide dual redundancy and elevated safety, height and speed.
Amongst the Slingshot rides found in more than 70 countries around the world, Singapore’s edition is the tallest in Asia. With its towering inclined structures at 54-metre high, (equivalent to about 16 storeys), riders will be able to take in the Singapore skyline from a unique angle during the two-minute ride – if they dare to open their eyes.
Riders can also purchase a video recording of their ride to share this feat with their family and friends and to relive the riveting moment for themselves.
Tickets are sold at $45 for adults and $35 for students aged 18 years and below. Slingshot is open daily from 4.30pm to 11.30pm. Riders are required to be above 125cm in height.
