The second edition of the Tour de France Prudential Singapore Criterium is set to thrill cycling fans in Singapore and the region on Oct 28 and 29.

Get ready to catch 32 top cyclists from eight of the world’s best professional teams race along a new three-kilometre street circuit.

Riders will flag off just outside Suntec City, sprint along Temasek Boulevard before circling the Fountain of Wealth – a homage to the Arc de Triomphe roundabout in Paris, an iconic sight of the Tour de France’s final stage in Paris.

For an exhilarating 90 minutes, they will head down Nicoll Highway, Esplanade Drive and Fullerton Road, cycling past some of Singapore’s most recognisable landmarks such as the War Memorial Park, the Esplanade and the Merlion. The fastest to cross the finish line will be declared the winner.

The highlight of the event will be the chance to see top cyclist Tadej Pogacar making his Tour de France Prudential Singapore Criterium debut. One of the sport’s top talents, having won the 2020 and 2021 Tour de France, the Slovenian will be headlining the 32-rider field on the new route.

He comes fresh from his epic battle in this year’s Tour de France where he finished second behind Jonas Vingegaard. His rivalry with the 2022 and 2023 Tour de France champion (also the winner of last year’s inaugural Tour de France Prudential Singapore Criterium) is widely regarded as one of keenest in cycling history.

Although second best in the Tour de France, the 24-year-old UAE Team Emirates has registered wins at the Vuelta a Andalucia, Ronde Van Vlaanderen, Amstel Gold Race and La Fleche Wallonne, among others, to be the runaway leader atop the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) rankings. He is more than 1,500 points ahead of second-placed Remco Evenepoel.

Last year’s inaugural Criterium saw the likes of four-time Tour de France winner Chris Froome, joint record holder for the most Tour de France stage wins Mark Cavendish, and eventual winner Vingegaard.

Who else will we see at the race? Stay tuned for more updates!

But that’s not all. Tour de France Prudential Singapore Criterium isn’t just a spectator sport.

Amateur cyclists and enthusiasts will have an opportunity to participate in Prudential Singapore’s PRURide Seeker’s Criterium, the only event for non-professional cyclists to race on the same street circuit during the race weekend. Registration for PRURide Seeker’s Criterium will commence on Aug 1. More information can be found here

There will also be concerts with international music acts, although details are yet to be finalised.

Tour de France Prudential Singapore Criterium is organised by Evoke Exp, with Prudential Singapore as title sponsor. Other partners include DHL, Škoda and Absolute Cycle.
