Big is better at Mid-Autumn Family Fun (MAFF), organised by Singapore Chinese Cultural Centre (SCCC) and Singapore Chinese Orchestra (SCO).
Happening from Sep 6 to 8, the three-day event will take place at SCCC and Singapore Conference Hall and feature a total of 21 activities specially curated for families and children, young and old to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival.
Marking the start of the festival is a Giant Mooncakes Takeover installation at SCCC’s Roof Garden that will light up the night sky from Sep 3. The installation, which represents different dialect groups, makes for an ideal spot for Insta-worthy photos and to moon-gaze at night. During the festival, there will be ticketed and free stage performances, workshops, lantern walks, and mooncake sampling.
Highlights of MAFF include The Moon Mission, a theatre production of a reimagined tale which tells the story of folklore characters such as Chang’e and many others; Grandpa’s Grandpa: Stories of our Ancestral Heritage, an educational workshop for families to discover more about their lineage; Hits of Classics: Ancient Moon, Present Light, a concert by SCCC, SCO and Lianhe Zaobao; and The World of Guzheng: A Parent-Child Workshop, a session where parents and children can bond over beautiful melodies. There is even a unique planetarium show by Science Centre Singapore where participants can learn how stars have been used for navigation in the past and how their positions would change over the seasons.
As part of the festivities, visitors can also look forward to freebies on Sep 7 and 8, while stocks last. Collect free mooncake sponges from 1pm to 7pm; complete a survey from 1pm to 7pm and redeem an Old Chang Kee snack of your choice; and complete a stamp card at all seven game booths at Moonlight Delights Fiesta from 12pm to 8pm and redeem a mystery gift.
