There’s more to Sentosa than sun, surf and sea. From now on, the island getaway off the southern coast of Singapore will transform into an entertainment hub filled with after-dark activities for both thrill-seekers and energetic families alike.

There’ll be movie screenings, festive markets, street performances and nocturnal island tours spread over 11 weekends as part of a strategic push by the Sentosa Development Corporation to get tourists and locals thinking about the island after night falls. After all, there’s more to the island of Sentosa than a beautiful sunset.

Sun-soaked beach clubs take on a new face in the night with an exciting lineup of international music festivals, the soonest of which will be Waterbomb Singapore. The K-pop extravaganza, happening from August 24 to 25, will shake up Sentosa with performances from more than 10 popular stars like Jay Park, Rain, 2NE1 members CL and Sandara Park, Jessi and Bambam.

Adrenaline junkies can look forward to being starstruck by Night Mode versions of their favourite thrill-seeking rides. Both Skypark Sentosa by AJ Hackett and Mega Adventure Park will be offering bungee jumping experiences and thrilling zip line rides later into the evenings, allowing visitors to enjoy the beauty of the island at night while beating the heat.

For something a little more restrained, look to Sentosa Night Mode’s late-night movie screenings at Southside; a nocturnal nature trail exploring the denizens of the island; historic tours of Fort Siloso; and unforgettable augmented reality experiences and light shows at the newly opened walking multisensory park, Sentosa Sensoryscape.

There’ll be ample opportunity to refuel and recharge with gourmet experiences aplenty too. Epicureans with a penchant for the finer things in life should head to Sentosa Golf Club for 10 Hands, a six-course dinner on Sep 6 featuring culinary maestros from many of the island’s establishments, including Panamericana, Interim Market Hall and Capella Singapore.

Alternatively, foodies can opt for laid-back gastronomy at Savour Park, Singapore’s largest outdoor food truck event to be held over two successive weekends (Sep 13 to 15, and 20 to 22). It’ll feature 16 different food wagons – think freshly grilled burgers, specialty coffee and other breezy bites – bolstered with live performances, a vintage car fleet display and hands-on workshops.
