Singapore’s first-ever Tennis and Pickleball Festival set to serve up plenty of fun this February

Everyone knows tennis, but pickleball? If you haven’t heard already, pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the world.

It is played with a flat paddle on a court that’s about a quarter the size of a regular tennis court. The pace is slower as the sport uses a perforated ball that’s lighter and easier to hit than a tennis ball.

So which sport would you pick? Why not try both at Singapore’s first-ever Tennis and Pickleball Festival, happening on Feb 17 from 9am to 12pm at Play! Tennis’ indoor courts at Red Quarters, Kallang.

Fans of the two sports, beginners, and those curious about the two racket games can give both a shot in a comfortable indoor environment, come rain or shine.

Both sports have their merits and unique qualities, and are suitable for players with different personal preferences and varying skill and fitness levels.

Organised by Play! Tennis and Play! Pickle, the Festival provides a taster experience of both sports. Adults and kids above the age of five can pick up a tennis racket or pickleball paddle, hit some balls with expert coaches, get tips on how to play or improve their game, and meet like-minded racket ball fans in a fun and social setting.

Players can cast their vote for whether they prefer tennis or pickleball after trying both, and at the end of the session, some of those who picked the “winning” sport will score prizes from Play! Tennis.

The Tennis and Pickleball Festival will be held on Feb 17, 2024, at Red Quarters, 26 Jln Benaan Kapal, Singapore 399629. There are two sessions: 9am to 10.30am, and 10.30am to 12pm. Price is $58 per person and includes indoor tennis and pickleball taster sessions with coaches, and complimentary Pickle! Juice. Equipment and balls are provided during play.
