Last year, Bangkok’s Banglamphu district ranked as the second highest-growing area in the world for the number of Airbnb rentals available. Here, we’ve rounded up the top five Airbnb hosts in the various neighborhoods of Bangkok, from rented spaces to owned ones.
Rented spaces
Owner: Ananda “Joy” Chalardcharoen
Owner: Sudaporn “Pupe” Sae Ia
Pupe has renovated an old building in Chinatown into a minimal, yet colorful guesthouse which stays in keeping with the tone of the area thanks to Chinese-style decoration and antiques. The downstairs area doubles as a bar serving drinks and Spanish food that opens out onto the streets, while the rooms upstairs take up the entire floor and ensure privacy. Each of the four rooms rents for B742-1,518 ($28.45-$58.20) per night. Besides, this little soi in an otherwise sleepy, warehouse-and-shophouse hood is the epicenter of Chinatown’s hipster invasion. It’s also where the famous gin bar Teens of Thailand is located. El Chiringuito Chinatown, 221 Soi Nana, Chareonkrung Rd
Owned spaces
Owner: Narathip “Nick” Pramualsuk
Ari has been all the rage for a few years now, a wonderful combo of sleepy, snaking residential streets and landed houses and an influx of hipster businesses. Not to mention, it’s a stone’s throw from the famous Chatuchak Market, making it a great place to hang your hat. Nick’s Airbnb space sits in your typical modern Bangkok condo development—a spacious, two-room unit with a built-in kitchen. He’s gone for a beach house theme with the decor, which features cool blues, light rustic woods and framed images of beach escapes like Santorini. He rents out the entire space for a maximum of four people for around B2,000 ($76.70) per night. 8/74 Noble Re:D Ari Soi 1
Owner: Viranpach “Hong” Naranitithum
As you probably already know, Thonglor is where all the action is at, and it’s showing no signs of slowing down, with new and exciting bars and restaurants opening everyday. This whitewashed, minimal building sits in a Thonglor townhouse, and comes as a homestay, cafe and art gallery all in one space. Roomy and filled with plenty of natural light, the four rooms spread across the top floor each feature a cozy lounge area beneath the bed which lies in a top bunk. Hong rents out each double bedroom for around B900-1,300 ($34.50-$49.90) per night. Wie Immer Bangkok, Thonglor Soi 14
Owner: Sirirat “Yoom” Thawilvejakul
Yoom’s modern, spacious unit in a Thonglor condo has a playful feel. The walls are decorated with her own graphic and animation designs, plus a full-scale blackboard wall with chalk is provided for drawing and working on. The apartment sleeps a total of four over two rooms, and costs around B2,500-4,000 ($95.90-$153.40) per night depending on how many guests stay. Noble Solo, Sukhumvit Soi 55
