Hotel Indigo, part of IHG’s Luxury & Lifestyle portfolio, has launched a first-of-its-kind initiative where guests can borrow everyday necessities at no cost.
Called Borrowed by Hotel Indigo, the programme aims to get guests to discover, or rediscover, some of the most inspiring and culturally rich neighbourhoods in and outside the hotel, through celebrating the tastes and traditions of the communities that these hotels are part of.
In a global survey from Hotel Indigo, the brand reveals that 73 percent of respondents feel it is important for the hotel they stay in while travelling to be connected to the local neighbourhood, as it may inspire them to be more adventurous, have the desire to try new things, and meet new people.
So from now till February 2024, guests staying at “The World’s Neighbourhood Hotel” in cities across Southeast Asia including Bali, Bangkok, Phuket, Singapore, and Kuala Lumpur (coming soon) are able to borrow items unique to the neighbourhoods where their respective hotel properties are located.
Hotel Indigo Singapore Katong, located on the historic site of the former Joo Chiat Police Station, is described as the “gateway to Peranakan culture”. Here, guests can borrow traditional tiffin carriers to use to take delicious Nyonya treats back to their rooms; a traditional woven hand fan; or a tote bag and umbrella with Peranakan prints.
At Hotel Indigo Bali Seminyak Beach, guests can dress up in a ceremonial outfit made from Balinese fabric (also known as endek) or borrow a surfing rash guard while they explore the hotel’s iconic coastline.
How about giving Muay Thai boxing a go in Thailand? Borrow Hotel Indigo-branded boxing gloves in Hotel Indigo Phuket Patong, and throw some punches in a full-sized boxing ring. Meanwhile, guests at Hotel Indigo Bangkok Wireless Road can choose from three sets of items – Saen Sabai (The Picnic Set), Teaw Talod (The Explorer Set) and Suay Rerd (The Photographer Set) – based on how they personally prefer to explore the City of Angels.
Just remember to return the item after you’ve borrowed it!
