This new app brings home-cooked meals to your office

Food delivery services are nothing new. But niche ones like WhyQ, which specializes in hawker food delivery in the CBD area; and Dine Inn, which brings you home-cooked meals by home-chefs, are still welcome additions. Another one is entering the scene, and we like it because it is also niche, unlike the overcrowded space Foodpanda and Deliveroo is fighting over. The app, aptly named YummyBank, similar to Dine Inn, connects home chefs to the platform and offers meal choices that you can order on the same day or in advance.

This one specifically targets audiences during the lunch hour and at the CBD crowd who are tight on time. From Monday to Friday, a daily-rotating menu will feature three to five dishes on their YummyLunch section on the app. However, there is no delivery and you need to head to a nearby collection point to pick up the lunch yourself. However, this also means delivery charges are waived. There are three pick-up points, namely at Asia Square Tower 1, One Raffles Quay and UOB Plaza.

Some of the food choices include smoky teriyaki chicken with toasted sesame pasta, truffle claypot rice and poached squid tang hoon. Currently, prices range from $8-14. YummyBank also shared with us that in order to encourage advance orders (so that they have time to prepare), a 20% discount will be given if you order one day in advance.

They are also branching out into YummyChef, a home-chef platform within the app. You’ll be able to browse through a collection of dishes by home-chefs and do bulk orders in advance. Currently, home-chefs include The Ampang Kitchen, which serves Peranakan cuisine and Chinese home-chef Margaret Teo. After ordering, you can make an appointment time and date with the chefs. Some may deliver, but additional charges apply.
