Tech Know: Facebook Paper, Flappy Bird and the Samsung Galaxy S5

Gettin’ paper
Never mind that Facebook’s new Paper app has received some backlash over copyright issues. If you’re wondering how to get your hands on the app, even before it hits our shores, the ever-reliable folks at Hardware Zone Singapore have come up with a neat summary on how to do just that.

Is it a bird… is it a plane…?
The app that’s recently neutralized any form of social interaction here comes in the form of a retro 8-bit graphic game app, Flappy Bird. The gameplay is simple yet frustrating—players guide the bird through pipes by tapping the screen. It’s so successful that Vietnamese developer, Dong Nguyen, has announced that the app is pulling in around US$50,000 per day in just ad revenue. It’s currently the number one app in the Apple App Store in over 100 countries and increasingly becoming the number one source of personal angst among smartphone users.

The Korean giants have already handed out journalist invites to the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on February 24 called “Unpacked 5”. With the not-so-subtle event name and a year since the Galaxy S4 was released, we all know what that’ll be about.
