Construction has begun for the Eco-Link bridge joining Singapore’s largest forests the Bukit Timah and Central Catchment nature reserves. Slated for completion in 2013, the bridge will “help restore the ecological balance in these fragmented habitats,” according to Minister of State for National Development and Manpower Tan Chuan-Jin.
The Eco-Link is said to be Southeast Asia’s first ecological corridor and will take the shape of an hourglass, measuring 50 meters at its narrowest point.
Once open, the National Parks Board hopes to provide public access to it in the form of guided tours.
