Mr KIA Aug 5

Dear Mr. KIA,
I have horrible taste in home décor, but the girl I’m dating is too classy and mod for me to not impress. What can I do to art up my apartment? —Artistically-Challenged

Dear AC,
Mmmm, minimalism and mahogany. What could be better? I recommend Smootree (#01-03 Harbourside Building 2, 2 Boon Leat Terrace, 6270-2935, www.smootree.sg), one of Singapore’s finest modern furniture stores, which carries impressive high-end furniture brands such as Clei, Sellex, and Sicea. For a good interior designer, I recommend the services of Artrend Interior Design Pte Ltd (#04-13 Blk. 22 Woodlands Link, Woodlands East Industrial Estate, 6273-8488, www.artrend.com.sg), recognized as one of the best in Singapore. Your apartment will be the talk of the town, and you’ll surely impress Miss. Mod.
Dear Mr. KIA,
I’m very specific about my meats and my favorite butcher recently went out of business. Any ideas for a new place to call on? —Meatless Mark

Dear MM,
As a fellow carnivore, I completely understand your plight. Head to Huber’s Butchery (18A Dempsey Rd., 6737-1588, www.hubers.com.sg), where you’ll find everything from American Kurobuta pork chops to Australian Wagyu with a marbling score of four. They also make their own sausages in-house, be sure to try the red wine-spiked chorizo or pork bratwurst made with Swiss Appenzeller dark beer. Another worthy option is Swiss Butchery@Tanglin (#01-02 Tanglin Post Office, 56 Tanglin Rd., 6235-8080), which aside from the usual suspects also offers organic, hormone-free poultry, as well as more exotic game meat including rabbit and venison loin. As a bonus, they also do deliveries to your doorstep for orders above $75. Enjoy!
