Philippines artist Manuel Ocampo is a big player in the Manila arts scene and is known for his iconoclast paintings that critique colonialism. In this show Ocampo explores his pursuit to be critical of his art-making process and subjects his painting skills to relentless practice, to show the motivation and intention behind an artist’s work.

Japanese photographer Karin Shikata has her first Southeast Asian exhibition at multi-venue space SPRMRKT, featuring 15 images which tell the story of two dolls who wished to be real girls. The series of fantastical and whimsical photographs show the dolls experiencing life in the streets of Tokyo’s Shibuya, Omotesando, Ginza and Asakusa.
