Ever found the need for a quick perk-me-up in the middle of a work day? Instead of finding a quiet corner meeting room to squirrel away a few winks, this new spa in Tanjong Pagar could be the hideaway you need.
Hidden on the serene fourth floor of Six Senses Maxwell are their all-new spa pods and relaxation rooms. They’re called pods because you won’t find the excesses here—things like sauna and steam rooms. But the discerning will find that they more than make up for it with creature comforts like heated spa beds, en suite bathrooms and quality products.
Each pod is actually a standalone room, so privacy is assured, and treatments range from luxurious 30min express manicures ($40) and refreshing 45min facials ($130), to relaxing head massages ($90 for 30min; $150 for 60min) and even full-on wellness retreats that incorporates TCM consultations and a meal.
Mani-pedi room
There’s something for everyone on the spa menu, but those looking to really pamper themselves should try their locally-inspired Vanda Miss Joaquim ritual ($280 for 120min). With a name like that, you can expect plenty of floral scents, even orchid, to be used.
It starts with a signature Six Senses singing bowl ritual. With each chijme, let the vibrations reverberate through your body as you settle your mind. Then, a really soothing back, neck and shoulder massage follows, made even more therapeutic with the expert use of warm amethyst crystals. Softer than the more common lava stones, these are also known for their healing properties.
You then get an orchid-scented Himalayan salt scrub to exfoliate your body, leaving your skin soft and smooth. After rinsing off, a fragrant rose body mask is then applied. You get cocooned with the mask on, letting the nutrients have time to comfortably sink in. While that’s happening, the skilled therapist also gently massages your face with a stick of bamboo. The final touch is a rose and jasmine body oil rub, leaving you thoroughly scented as you leave.
Relaxation room
It doesn’t end there. Respite continues with free use of one of their relaxation rooms after your treatment. Each is equipped with a state-of-the-art So Sound Legato Healing Lounger. It’s essentially a high-tech recliner connected to a pair of headphones and a tablet device. Pick your choice of natural melody, and feel your worries and frustrations melt away as micro-vibrations from the lounger sync with the sounds for a truly unique experience.
