Eat, drink, and play at the newly opened Hidey Hole Bistro

Now is always a good time to support local, especially some of the new restaurants that opened during the pandemic.

Nestled in the heritage-rich district of Little India, Hidey Hole is a western fusion bistro bar with a whole lot of mouthwatering café food and beer bites to offer.

The understated industrial-chic bistro is helmed by four young hawkerpreneurs – Ivan, Marcus, Leous, and Dave – who share a common aim to provide a cosy venue for diners to eat, drink, and play. How they handle everything, from interiors to food choices, is measured against a unique, passionate standard of care.

Adapting to the restrictions of the pandemic has seen them pivot their plans, and what was initially meant to be an arcade-cum-bistro fell flat. Till the day restrictions ease further, their nostalgic retro game machines continue to remain shelved.

Hidey Hole is not just all fun-and-games, though! You’d be excited to head down for café food staples that even discerning foodies would appreciate and enjoy.

Chef’s recommendations include Ivan’s USA Tomahawk Pork Chop, Marcus’ Striploin Steak, Leous’ Chicken Risotto, and Dave’s Seafood Feast.

Dave’s Seafood Feast features a generous variety of fresh crustaceans and sweet roasted vegetables tossed in an addictively spicy sauce. Packed with oceanic flavours and a spicy oomph, their signature sauce pairs amazingly well with crispy mantous.

With Hidey Hole’s daily happy hours, all that beer begs for the right food to go with it. Go for the Mentaiko Cheese Fries, a plateful of shoestring fries topped with umami mentaiko, cheddar cheese sauce, and parmesan cheese.

For the indulgent ones, reach for freshly handpicked Japan Hyogo Oysters, served with cilantro hot dressing and citrusy lemon squeeze.

Aside from serving up delicious bites, the bistro also puts the owners’ vast Bearbrick collection on display – perfect for fervent collectors to head down and bond over.
