Dear Mr. Know-It-All,
I’m producing a play. It’s about… Oh who cares what it’s about? I’m producing a play! How cool is that? Of course, I don’t get to wear blazers and stiff moustaches like producers do in the movies, and it really is a lot more hard work than I thought it would be but I’m really proud to be a part of this production. It just goes to show that I am an inventive, streetsmart and resourceful person. By the way, do you happen to know where I can find those retro electric metal fans you see on Growing Up? —PROUD ASSISTANT PRODUCER
Dear PAP,
Resourceful, huh? Most hardware stores located in the heartlands sell these fans—they’re everywhere. But maybe you producers don’t have time for neighborhood walks so here are some places. Strategic Marketing (39 Ubi Rd. 1, World Publications Bldg., 6457-3678)sells the EuropAce range of products, which includes the mini retro fan in bronze and antique green. Lorgan’s Retro Store also stocks other cool retro-looking furniture and home appliances. Depending on which era your play is set in, you may be interested in the globe chair circa 1968 or fluorescent ceiling lamps that were used in most homes in the 50s to 70s. However, I strongly suggest you print out images of your desired model and go on a sourcing trip round places like Bedok and Jalan Besar if you don’t want to end up blowing your budget.
