17 MRT stations will be expanded to have more waiting room by 2018, according to a recent story by Channel News Asia. The LTA will cover up the platform voids to create more standing room. 11 of these platform voids will be covered up, while six stations will have their seats rearranged to free up more space.
The exercise will create about 15% of additional space overall. Obviously, that won’t have much impact on actual wait times, but still. We can get behind not getting up, close and personal with strangers on the platform.
