Singaporeans are a bunch of passionate food lovers, which explains why big food events are always well attended here. Apart from July being the unofficial month of all things food, what with the on-going Singapore Food Festival and other fringe activities under it, we’ll also be seeing Resorts World Sentosa’s (RWS) inaugural Great Food Festival on Sep 21-24.
The RWS team has teamed up with international gourmet festival curators, Savour Events, who’s known for their flagship festival Savour (fun fact: they’ve already taken the festival to six other cities in just two years), for this festival. It’ll see 30 big names from Singapore and around the world who’ll be busy whipping up dishes at accessible prices across a 215,000 sq. ft. space (that’s about the size of the Singapore Padang).
The entire festival will be split up into five different segments where you can try out the specially created dishes prepared by the star chefs, have a taste of heritage-inspired nosh from more than 10 countries, check out the big spread of desserts and pastries from the region, take part in live demo sessions and cooking master classes, and so much more. Some of the chefs participating include Cat Cora (she fronts the Ocean Restaurant at the S.E.A. Aquarium), Scott Webster of the Michelin-starred Osia Steak and Seafood Grill, homegrown celebrity chef Sam Leong of Forest, and of course Michael Michaelidis from Singapore’s only three-Michelin-starred establishment, Joel Robuchon Restaurant.
The Great Food Festival sounds a lot like Marina Bay Sands’ annual Epicurean Market, but we’ll see how it goes. Below are some dishes you’ll get to try.
Tickets are $78, available via the festival’s official website. Early bird tickets are already on sale until Jul 23, plus there’s a 10% discount and exclusive swag to go along. More info here.
