Frozen by Pangdemonium
Having won big at last year’s Life! Theater awards, it’s safe to say that Pangdemonium’s productions are definitely worth the price of a ticket. We thoroughly enjoyed this year’s The Rise and Fall of Little Voice (there’s no denying lead actress Mina Kaye’s stunning vocals) and come Oct 23, Pangdemonium will be staging Frozen, a psychological thriller examining themes such as retribution, survival and hope with theater veterans Adrian Pang, Janice Koh and Karen Tan in lead roles.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream
Shakespeare fans will delight in the original production of one of Bard’s most famous plays. Performed by the Globe Theater and directed by Dominic Dromgoole, the production features Renaissance costumes and staging, and stars acclaimed British actors Janie Dee and Aiden Gillet.
Waiting for Godot
One of the most significant and debated plays of the 20th century, Samuel Beckett’s absurdist masterpiece returns to Singapore. Staged by Dublin theater group AC Productions, the plot revolves around two characters named Vladimir and Estragon, who wait endlessly and in vain for someone called Godot.
The Way We Go by Checkpoint Theatre
Written by rising playwright Joel Tan, this production centers around the life of a former principal and the relationships valuable to her, exploring the fragility and complexity of love and all the costs attached to it. It also marks the return of LA-based actress Lydia Look to the Singapore stage, along with well-known Malaysian actor Patrick Teoh.
