6 reasons to head back to Dempsey this week

It’s a great place to check out new art

Art galleries don’t just cluster around Gillman Barracks or Bras Basah, Dempsey has a ton, too. While Red Sea Gallery are known for putting on blockbuster exhibitions like Dali, there’s also smaller scale galleries focused on European art. Check out Barnadas Huang‘s new exhibition of Vanessa Linares’ “The Family Tree”.

It’s a dessert lover’s dream

Aside from the decadently large cakes over at the leafy PS. Cafe (think double fudge marshmallow), a new Japanese patisserie has recently opened. Henri Charpentier makes all sorts of sweet treats from madeleines to Crepes Suzette that are flambeed at your table. Plus, the space is super pretty.

Burn the calories off with some pilates… or just relax with a spa sesh

What better way to work off all those calories than with a pilates session? PowerMoves‘ motto is “Pilates in the Park”, which means your workout session is surrounded by tons of greenery, wood and airy rooms. If working out isn’t your thing, check yourself into new spa Luxe House for their specialty foot massages.

Stock up on home decor

Deck your house out with some new trinkets from stores like famed British interior designer Timothy Oulton at CuriOYou’ll also want to check out CuriO Home (stocking designers like Kelly Hoppen), as they’re having discounts ranging from 25-80% off starting Jan 10. If you’re more of a Southeast Asian lover, there are lots of antique and wood-specialty shops around like Asiatique Collections and Woody Antique House as well.

Treat your pooch to some pampering sessions

There’s a new ultra-luxurious pet hotel in Dempsey. Set amid lush greenery, The Wagington is set in a colonial black-and-white building and houses both cats and dogs in air-conditioned, frou frou rooms. However, pet owners can also use the facilities for a daytime retreat. There’s a spa, large garden and a doggie pool, too.

Break the midday rut with a lunchtime retreat

Make the trek down from the office for a swanky festive lunch at The White Rabbit. They’ve concocted a special set lunch menu that’s available until Dec 31 with dishes like smoked venison tartare with poached eggs; foie gras parfait with fried potatoes and pickled veggies; and mushroom and truffle ravioli with savoy cabbage and shiitake miso broth. Plus, it’s cheaper than dinner at $48 for three courses and $55 for four courses. Check here for more festive dining deals.
