At last, a hands-on communal space for creatives in Singapore that’s more than just work desks

In embracing the creative entrepreneurial community here, Singapore has done a pretty good job creating <a href="http://sg.asia-city.com/city-living/article/co-working-spaces-singapore" target="_blank">a range of co-working options</a> for the 21st century creative to choose from as alternatives to the traditional office space. But sometimes hot desks and free charging points just don’t cut it, which is why the launch of <a href="https://www.facebook.com/pg/themoxcommunity" target="_blank">Mox</a>, the first and largest independent design resource workspace in Singapore, should be on everyone’s radar.
Designed with the creative communities in mind, Mox is the first working space to provide facilities such as 3D printers, laser cutters, carpentry machines and working stations equipped with design software. No doubt then, that Mox fills in the gap left by other co-working spaces in providing such trade-specific infrastructure, and acknowledging those in the handicraft and design-centric industries. Current tenants already include Snupped, Mighty Jaxx and Cakerholic; a retail storefront lets entrepreneurial craft-makers display their works for sale.
In addition to the standard amenities you can find at a co-working space, Mox, which has made its home in Katong Point, offers a sewing room stocked with industrial-grade machines, a 3D printing room, iMac kiosks with Adobe Creative Suite (among other software), and a photography studio that comes with backdrop and lighting equipment—at an added but reduced rate.
The workspace, which touts itself as a “co-making” space, is the brainchild of real estate investment firm Buxani Group and creative retail activator Invade, more popularly known as the organizers behind Artbox Singapore and iLight Marina Bay. No discrimination here—Mox aims to bring together makers under one roof, to either focus on personal projects or come together on ground-breaking collaborations. Plans range from $30/day for a day-pass to $500/month for a private office, so start-ups and businesses at any level can join to enjoy the facilities.
