A Design Film Festival returns with screenings at the Capitol Theatre and Lido

Following sell-out screenings at last year’s edition, the city’s trendiest film festival A Design Film Festival returns with yet another cooler-than-thou lineup Sep 5-13 (and screenings in Bangkok and New York, no less).

Sure, Dior and I, the behind-the-scenes documentary about fashion designer Raf Simons’ plights at the house of Dior will be playing again (it was the festival’s most popular film after all), but there a slew of hard-to-come-by indie design films that you should check out too.

Illustration and comic fans will want to watch Very Semi-Serious, Leah Wolchok’s fun take on The New Yorker‘s cartoon department, while photography fans will love Wim Wenders’ The Salt of the Earth, about Sebastiao Salgado’s photographic oeuvre through the years. Fashionistas might try to catch Dior and I for the second and third time, but there is also Iris, about the eccentric style maven Iris Apfel, and Handmade With Love in France, which takes viewers through the working methods of various couture houses from Chanel to YSL.

Loads to love if you ask us. Early bird tickets at $15 each through Jul 31 can be booked now here. Do get your tickets. We didn’t get to see half the stuff we wanted last year because everything sold out so fast.

In the meantime, here are some trailers:
