Taking the world by storm, the phenomenal rise and success of designer toys have given birth to a whole new market of colourful and unique collector items. With additional elements of fun, mystery, and surprise, blind boxes have no doubt also witnessed an exponential surge in popularity.
What’s in a box? No one’s quite sure. But if you’re looking for that one special collection to kickstart your own collector’s journey, Mighty Jaxx’s first Kandy x Sanrio collection might just be it.
The collection features six iconic Sanrio characters – Hello Kitty, My Melody, Kuromi, Pompompurin, Bad Badtz-Maru, and Kerokerokeroppi – and an additional extra rare, elusive Cinnamoroll. The blind boxes are, as always, identical in every way from the outside so you wouldn’t know what you’ve got till you open the box.
Featuring New York-based artist Jason Freeny’s signature style, each figure is a half-finished, half-exposed creation split vertically down the middle.
Inspired by rock candies, the Kandy x Sanrio collection showcases clear, candy-coloured themes, from the pastel pink of bubble gum candy to the golden hue of sweet caramel.
Armed with a youthful imagination, Jason Freeny’s work has also been the basis for past collaborations with Mighty Jaxx, including the Freeny’s Hidden Dissectibles: Care Bears and Freeny’s Hidden Dissectibles: One Piece collections.
