We are not new to delivery apps and the few main food delivery services in Singapore continue to hit us with more exciting and better offerings. Yet there’s a newcomer in the scene aptly named WhyQ, specializing in hawker food delivery. They are started by two 27-year-old Indian nationals, Rishabh Singhvi and Varun Saraf, who both love local hawker fare and want to offer an alternative for the lunch hour crowd who is tight on time. The delivery team is made of 20 people and you can spot them walking around the precinct with their bright yellow polo tees.
Currently, they deliver hawker fare from seven hawker centers including well-known foodie havens like Chinatown Complex, Maxwell Food Centre, Amoy Street Food Centre, Hong Lim Food Centre, Golden Shoe Food Centre and May Hua Food Court. In other words, you are now able to enjoy food from these places but avoid the ridiculous queues from the comfort of your workplace. On the list of stores available are Jin Hua Sliced Fish Bee Hoon, Tian Tian Chicken Rice, Michelin-starred Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle, among many others.
What really stands out is that there is no minimum order and delivery charges are offered at a flat rate of $1.50 (much lower compared to other delivery services). The only caveat being your delivery location need to be near the hawker centers.
