To celebrate its 13th anniversary, arts center Esplanade—Theatres on the Bay launched a comprehensive compendium last week, basically titled Esplanade—Theatres on the Bay Singapore. What we like about it is that it does not only cover a good range of shows that have taken place at the arts center (from more obscure performances like Tsai Ming-liang’s Only You trilogy to local blockbuster shows like Dick Lee’s Forbidden City), but it also documents the early history of other performing arts venues (accompanied by rare photos too!). “We hope that we can unite our efforts around a common aim to transform people’s lives for the better through the arts,” says Esplanade’s CEO Benson Puah during the book launch. It is available for sale now at $49.90 at major bookstores in town, including Kinokuniya.
