The goal? An accumulated 56,000km for Singapore’s 56th birthday

The annual National Day Parade is great, but there is another event us locals can experience in celebration of our nation’s independence day. And that’s virtual race company 42Race’s marathon extravaganza which happens from Aug 1-15.

Named GetActive! Together with SG56, the marathon aims to spur the Singaporean population towards accumulating up to 56,000km in 15 days with running or cycling as a way of showing their appreciation towards Singapore.

On top of that, the company would also like to incite the community spirit in each of us, and see the country enter a steady and consistent fitness regime together—at least for two weeks.

So within 15 days, runners can record a 5.6km run to receive an e-badge on 42Race’s fitness app. They can also challenge themselves to clock 10km and 56km runs, to earn an e-certificate and a finisher’s medal.

Likewise for cyclists, they can start with 5.6km before embarking on 56km and 560km races.

But that’s not all. At the end of the event, participants will also stand a chance to win 42Race’s SG56 Explorer Award and Team Award, should they meet the following requirements on its fitness app: first, to share the most creative running or cycling route around Singapore; or second, to share the most creative we-fie around Singapore.

Those who would like to participate in this marathon can sign up on 42Race’s event website; event merch like t-shirts, singlets and race packs are also available for purchase.

And before you begin, be sure to have 42Race’s app ready to clock and record your distance.
