A hassle-free mobile application for charities is launching in Singapore

If you’ve ever wanted to donate to a charity, but don’t know where to start, then you’ll be happy to know that a popular mobile application called Givo, which won the People’s Choice Award at the Asian Venture Philanthropy Conference last year, is launching in Singapore.

Powered by the idea of giving more tech and social media support to charities and social enterprises, Alvin Li and Adrian So co-founded the app in September two years ago. Together with their latest member, Jodie Chan, they set out to use the power of technology to raise awareness about individual causes The app will hold all the necessary information you’ll need about various charities, and you’ll be able to curate your own feed of the causes you care about, charities and other humanitarian news.

All you need to do is to connect the app to your Facebook or Twitter accounts, and then pick your interests, which include anything from animals, community, arts and culture to disaster relief, human rights and gender equality. From there, the app will list out the relevant charity organizations which you can subscribe to. There are currently more than 50 that are already on board, including Mercy Relief, UNHCR Singapore, Red Cross Singapore and Samaritans of Singapore (SOS). In a nutshell, it’s a social media platform that’s actually set out to help people.

The mobile app will launch in Singapore on Jan 19.
