While we have Aug 9, 1965 burned into our brains, we’re pretty sure that even the most nerdy history buff wouldn’t know all there is to know about Singapore. Enter the website Days That Changed Singapore. Written by local journalists and writers, the site compiles milestones were selected by then-president S.R. Nathan.
It’s not all political nerdery, though. Some other cool milestones include the introduction of our official currency (Jun 12, 1967), the day that A&W arrived in Singapore and the day People’s Park Complex opened. For each milestone, there is also a bit of commentary on the repercussions, so you’ll have some food for thought. Plus, if you go through the entire website, you’ll be a little more knowledgeable and impressive at parties.
