An inflatable theater is coming to the heartlands

When you’re a kid, you get a bouncy castle. When you’re a hip grown-up, you get GoLi. The island’s first inflatable roving theater is a 7m tall, white and green structure that will travel around town bringing theater to the masses.

Its first stop will be in Serangoon, right beside NEX shopping center. Thought up by the folks at Drama Box, GoLi will kick off with Scenes: Forum Theater, a festival running from Jul 3-10.

Part of the festival includes free performances from Jul 3-5: local play Trick or Threat! (Jul 3, 8pm), which tells the story of a bomb scare on the MRT train, and UK’s Mind The Gap, which will be staging Real Voices Real Lives (Jul 4, 7pm), an interactive theater workshop with learning-disabled actors and interactive role-playing.

The festival will focus on forum theater, where the audience can stop the performance at any point and change the ending. There will also be discussions, dialogue sessions and masterclasses held at Center 42 from Jul 5-10. For a full festival lineup, head here

An organizer at Drama Box told us that GoLi is also going to be a part of Singapore International Arts Festival in September and will head to Toa Payoh. More details to come.
