Kampong Glam is getting a seriously Moulin Rouge-esque boutique hotel

The neighborhood is going to get a serious dose of glamor come next week, when Hotel Vagabond officially opens its doors on Sep 12.

Designed by famed architect Jacques Garcia, who was behind other hotels like Paris’ Hotel Costes and New York City’s NoMad, all 41 rooms features a Parisian-inspired opulent and maximalist design, including mahogany writing desks, lots of rich textures like colorful wallpaper and velvet ottomans, and a super plush bed. As if it could get anymore more OTT, each room has a selection of Garcia-endorsed movies which he handpicked.

The property also has cured meats-focused restaurant Fifth Quarter with Chef Drew Nocente in the kitchen. The Unlisted Collection restaurant focuses on grilled meats and traditional cured meats like coppa and lardo. But if it’s not food you’re after, the predominantly red- and gold-clad space also has Vagabond Bar where you can get your fill of, what else but artisanal tipples that were created by the boys of Proof & Company and 28 HongKong Street.

This hotel is also one of the few properties with a unique Artist in Residence program, which gives poets, writers, painters, performers and musicians access to studios and ateliers. The first artist in store is Brooklyn-based musician DJ Synapse who will be spinning beats for the soundtrack of the hotel.

Rooms are available starting Oct 1 with an opening rate of $300.
