This cafe-hopping mobile app is now a reality because Singaporeans love their coffee

$60 for a free drink at over 60 cafes in Singapore might seem too good to be true, but thanks to the combined power of coffee-loving Singaporeans everywhere, it’s now a reality.

Local Kickstarter campaign KopiPass launched its crowdfunding at the start of August, but has already surpassed its goal of $8,000. In fact, the homegrown mobile app was 100% funded within the first five hours of the launch, and pledges are growing steadily, as it currently stands at $14,000 with 18 more days to go.

The root of its success? Definitely our local love for cafes and coffee, often hindered by the infuriating fact that an artisan cuppa can come up to $7 a cup. KopiPass was created precisely to address that. The mobile app, founded by three cafe-crazy friends, offers annual memberships starting from $59 that entitle users to redeem a complimentary drink worth up to $6, at more than 60 participating cafes island-wide. Its aim was to create a seamless, affordable cafe-hopping trail in the form of a smartphone app—so you don’t have just the Singapore Coffee Festival to look forward to in life.

On top of the free coffees, members can also redeem special food promotions at the cafes, get instant Google Map directions within the app, and search and filter an extensive listing of over 400 cafes to their liking. Some of the partnered cafes on the list include crowd favorites like Tanuki Raw, Toby’s Estate, The Laneway Market and 5 Little Monkeys.

If you’re intrigued, it’s not too late to get in on the good stuff—the Kickstarter campaign ends Sep 4, so there’s still time to pledge and snag your own KopiPass. The app itself will be launched in both iOS and Android versions on Sep 29, in celebration of National Coffee Day. To best facilitate trail planning, redemption codes will be sent to pledgers one week prior, to activate their membership on the app.

We foresee chaos when the end of September rolls around, but then anything for coffee right?
