Kampong Glam is getting a boutique hotel as Duxton loses its only one

The lovely Duxton Hotel on Duxton Hill is closing at the end of this month (so this is your last chance to drink at the Mixes by Mars pop-up bar in the lobby). But don’t be too sad. It will reopen in 2016 under a new name.

Besides, there’s a slew of boutique hotels on the way in the coming months. First of all, Hotel Yan just opened on Tyrwhitt Road. Then, in September, we are looking forward to the art-inspired boutique hotel Hotel Vagabond, which will open at Syed Alwi Road near Kampong Glam, in September. Renovations are still going on now, but judging from the group’s (Garca Hotels) portfolio of projects, it’ll be a pretty cool affair. They have retained the exterior of the 50s Art Deco building, down to its original red shutters, and will even hold an art residency program on premises. The interiors will also be dressed up with original artworks and art deco pieces.

And that’s not all. The Lo & Behold Group is taking over the former Warehouse Disco along Havelock Road with the aim of turning it into a boutique hotel, Warehouse Hotel. More on all that and more here.
