The National Gallery Singapore is opening on Nov 24 with free entry for two weeks

The National Gallery Singapore is opening on Nov 24 with the added bonus of free entry until Dec 6. There will also be a major opening festival to be held at the Padang from Nov 27-29, featuring a showcase on the building’s facade, performances, screenings and activities—details are a little sketchy at the moment but watch this space for updates.

For the uninitiated, the former Supreme Court Building and Prime Minister’s Office focuses on local and Southeast Asian art ranging from the 19th century to present day, with over 8,000 pieces on display. If the topic of art has your eyes glazing over, you might want to participate in tours around its permanent galleries (DBS Singapore Gallery, UOB Southeast Asia Gallery and Keppel Centre for Art Education) for a more interactive experience.

And of course, there will be plenty of yummy and picturesque restaurants on premises. More on that here.
