Phase 2 (Heightened Alert): What you need to know about the new measures being implemented this weekend

Last week, Singapore reverted from Phase 3 to Phase 2 due to the rising number of Covid-19 community cases. Now, in what the Health Ministry is naming Phase 2 (Heightened Alert), more stringent measures will be introduced from May 16-Jun 13.

Here are some important Covid-19 measures to take note of.

Work-from-home will be the default

All employees who are able to work from home must do so. Work-from-home will be the default from May 16-Jun 13.

Group sizes will be reduced from 5 to 2

Locals are strongly encouraged to stay home as much as possible. Wherever necessary, only groups of two are allowed to head out.

The cap of five distinct visitors per household per day will also be reduced to two per household per day.

All dining activities must cease

F&B establishments will not be allowed to offer dine-in services. Takeaway and delivery options are permitted. Weddings which are considered a dining activity will have to cease.

Events to be further scaled down

Starting May 16, event sizes are 50 without pre-event testing and 100 with pre-event testing.

New capacity limits for malls

The operating capacity for malls, cruises, public libraries and attractions will be reduced as well. Cinemas will be allowed to operate, but sale (and consumption) of food and beverages are prohibited.

Personalised services will not be allowed

Personalised services including facials and saunas will not be allowed.
