The lucky residents of Tampines now have a new hangout (because four shopping malls aren’t enough) in the form of a leveled-up Shell petrol station. The station, located on Tampines Avenue 2, underwent a major overhaul since late last year and has now officially opened.
Those who frequent the area will have already noticed the biggest addition—the golden double arches of a 24/7 McDonald’s drive-through. It is the only one in Singapore found within a petrol station.
Other changes include a new convenience store and deli, called Shell Select and Deli by Shell respectively, that offers things like ready-to-eat meals, freshly-baked pastries ($1-$3.50) and an exclusive range of ice-cream made in collaboration with Wall’s featuring locally-inspired flavours like Nanyang Brekkie (cappuccino ice-cream on a croissant served with kaya spread; $3.50).
Another cool thing to check out is the new Take a Brake bicycle bay, built for all users of personal mobility devices, where riders can well, take a break, pump some air into their tyres, and fuel up (pun intended) on Shell’s new F&B offerings before heading off.
A whole bunch of other facilities, like a POPStation, AXS and ATM machines and a newspaper vending machine have also been put up to make it a more holistic community hotspot. Drivers to other parts of Singapore can look forward to more such Shell stations opening in the next few years.
