Listen up beachgoers, other than remembering to bring your suncreen and beachball, there’s just one more thing you need to be doing before heading down to Sentosa’s beaches.
Starting Oct 17 for an initial period of three months, the Tanjong, Palawan and Siloso beaches on Sentosa will only be open to those who have made prior reservations for their spot under the sun. This applies to peak periods only, meaning weekends and public holidays. The reservation system doesn’t apply on weekdays, but is still subject to capacity limits.
According to Sentosa, this reservation system is being trialed in order to better facilitate safe management measures as well as to reduce wait times for beachgoers during peak periods.
Here’s how it works. All bookings can be made via their beach reservations site. You can make a booking up to seven days before your intended visit. This means the first reservation openings will roll-out from Oct 10. There are two timeslots to choose from each day, either morning (8am-1pm) or afternoon (2pm-7pm). Sentosa’s beaches are closed from 7pm-8am.
You can only book for up to five persons per slot, and upon successful booking, you will receive an email confirming your chosen beach zone and timeslot. The Tanjong, Palawan and Siloso beaches have been segmented into seven zones for this, with capacity limits ranging from 100-350 people.
On the day of your visit, just approach a Beach Entry Kiosk located near your selected zone. Present your email for verification and you’ll be given a wristband for admission by the staff there. You can choose to enter or leave anytime during your allocated timeslot.
Each group of five persons are only allowed to gather within demarcated safety rings, with mingling between groups disallowed.
Sentosa’s beach courts will also be subject to this reservation system. The booking process for beach game courts are also similar to that for general beach entry.
Those who have booked beach courts are not required to make another booking for beach entry, but is still subject to the rule of five and no inter-mingling between other groups.
So if you’re still looking to get a good dose of vitamin D during the weekends and public holidays on Sentosa’s beaches, just remember to chope a spot online first.
