Happy birthday to us! SG Magazine celebrates 25 years of Singapore lifestyle with a virtual bash

This month marks a quarter century of us, SG Magazine, bringing you the best of Singapore’s lifestyle. Now, that’s not a statement many can make, and we’re deeply honored and proud of that fact.

Like many out there, we had high hopes for 2020. But also like many of you, we too got blindsided and punched in the gut by a global pandemic and ensuing economic crisis unlike any we’ve seen before.

That’s why, for our birthday wish this year, we only want one thing: for our beloved Singapore’s lifestyle scene to thrive and be vibrant once more.

Our friends in the nightlife space, we feel you and can’t wait to jive with you on the dance floor again. We do sorely miss that feeling. Events folks, here’s hoping concerts, festivals, fairs and street markets can return soon. The city’s just not as alive without them. And those in the arts, it’s been hella tough, but know that your work is essential to us—don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Not forgetting those in the hotel and travel sectors. We admire your resilience and strength as you pivot to welcoming staycationers and singapoliday goers. It couldn’t have been an easy change. And finally, to all in the F&B field, we thank you for working doubly hard to enable takeaway and delivery options, a safe dine-in experience, and for putting up with bad customers who make it hard for you by trying to flout the rules.

We sure hope that in our 25 years of covering Singapore’s best, that you’ve come to love our brand of in-the-know, casual, and sometimes downright cheeky content. After all, we consider all our readers to be part of a community we deeply appreciate and simply enjoy writing for as a friend.

And that’s why, even though it may be our birthday, we’re the ones giving out the presents this year. We’ve worked with some of our closest industry friends to launch a campaign where we’ll be giving over 25 of our readers amazing prizes that’ll enable them to rediscover Singapore once more.

Some of the prizes will even be gifts that benefit you as you stay in your house. After all, with working from home now part of the new norm, the space we live in and call home has never been more important.

As you’ll see with our renewed design and content line-up, we’re pivoting too. While topics like Home Living and Wellness were not as prominent before, we think you’ll now appreciate greater coverage on areas about living healthy, stay-home entertainment and improving your general well-being.

That doesn’t mean we no longer write about how you can head out for a great time—that stays, of course. From new restaurant openings to seasonal launches, we’ve got those on lock. Though you’ll also find keener focus on topics like online shopping, e-learning and even home furnishing. It’s all part of settling in with the new norm.

So keep on being awesome SG Magazine readers. Thank you for being part of our journey the last 25 years. We may not be able to throw a physical birthday bash this year, but here’s a virtual celebration filled with presents for all to enjoy. Till we meet again.

Stay strong, stay safe,
