It’s that time of the year when you’re no doubt making multipled trips in and out of Changi Airport on your way to some fabulous getaway. While you’re there, make sure to make time to check out some of the fun new developments, and we don’t mean the Pikachus running around and the cute Christmas donations. Here’s what to catch.
There’s an automated food court
Changi Airport recently introduced their unattended retail concept of paying for food and beverages with their automated food court at Terminal 2. Visitors can now select their bowl of noodles or a plate of chicken rice from a screen, pay through their credit card and collect their food; all with minimal human interaction, which is somehow very contrasting to the notion of how food courts in Singapore usually work.
You will soon have more food choices at T3
By early next year, travelers in transit at T3 can expect more food choices while they wait to board, as Changi is adding three big names to the list of restaurants at T3. There’s Australian chain Hudsons Coffee and, hold your hearts, the British takeaway cafe Pret a Manger, which will be open to public by June. Most excitingly, though, The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck, the casual dining concept by the celebrity chef, is opening in March, the first branch in Asia. Besides their regular menu they will also be introducing a few dishes like Hot ‘N’ Sour Soup with chicken, mushrooms, egg and scallions, and a few more, which will only be served at the Singapore outlet.
Get groomed for free while you wait for your flight
Last minute plan to go for a vacation? Did not have enough time to groom yourself before you fly? Fret not, Changi airport is now giving male passengers a free shave, a hot towel, head and face massage, and other skincare treatments, at the Male Grooming Club which is a retail pop-up store at Changi’s T3 transit area. They will also advise you on what are the best shaving and skincare products for you. Hurry up, they will be there until Jan 24.

T4 is going to be pretty awesome
Changi Airport’s latest terminal recently completed construction and will be open to the public by the second half of 2017 (we can’t wait!), and it will boast of some pretty cool features which include self-service check-in kiosks, automated immigration clearance and a facial recognition system, which verifies the identity of each traveler via a photo capture, which eliminates the customs process.
In case you didn’t know, here are 7 other things you can do at Changi Airport while you wait to board your flight.
