You can now trade vinyl through Singapore’s new marketplace app

Vinyl culture in Singapore is alive and well, with over 35 stores selling a variety of music from the 70s and 80s right to the current trends of bleeps and bloops and by-products of pop culture. Despite technological advances like music streaming and digital downloads, the shift back to analog is nothing new and is much more apparent with younger crowd these days. However, one local vinyl interest site has managed to use technology to make it easier for you to get on records you’ve been hunting for, right at your fingertips.

#Vinyloftheday was born in 2013 out of frustration from bad experiences at record stores and on discussion forums. They’ve since set up a pretty nifty gig with fair pricing, cognizant reviews and a well-engaged community. Now they’ve set up an app, which has spent the last couple of months in its beta phase, and finally ready for the world to try. This new mobile app is a digital marketplace for music lovers, wax enthusiast and record collectors—pretty much the entire vinyl community—to buy and sell new and used records, and also a platform to share your collections with everyone (ahem, bragging rights). It’s pretty much a combination of Carousell and Instagram but for vinyl; and the best part is that you’ll get a wide selection from both the average collector to your favorite record store. It has a pretty intuitive and simple user interface with muted colors, where you can scroll through your feed of people you follow and see what they’re selling or what they have in their library. There’s also a search bar that allows you to search for a specific genre or artist. All the key info that you’ll be looking out for, like the condition of the record, gen, price, buyer/seller ratings and of course, title and artist of the record, all within eye-shot of each other. And when you’re ready to check out, you’ll have full control on your delivery preferences: either meet up with the seller or customize your delivery options to whatever best suits you (check out the FAQ under “Setting up delivery rules”).

Sorry Android users, it’s only available for iOS at the moment. Download it here or search #vinyloftheday on the Apple Store.
