This is your last chance to check out New Majestic Hotel before it closes

The iconic New Majestic Hotel, housed within several blocks of conservation shophouses on Bukit Pasoh Road, will cease to exist from June 1. Those who haven’t visited the property before should do so while you can, especially since the hotel is also putting up a memory wall at the hotel’s lobby from Apr 28-May 20 for people to pen down their best wishes. We expect there will be plenty of fond memories to share, seeing as the boutique hotel has been in operation since 2006.

After a solid 11 years, the property will be giving way to a private members’ club called Straits Clan, according to a report by The Straits Times (no pun intended). It is set to open in the first half of next year with new F&B concepts, a gym, spa and events space. We believe the new club will not disappoint, seeing as the co-founder of The Lo & Behold Group (responsible for brands like Tanjong Beach Club, White Rabbit, Odette and most recently The Warehouse Hotel) is one of the persons backing the new development.

As to why New Majestic is being shuttered, Loh Lik Peng, director of Unlisted Collection, which the hotel is part of, says that the opportunity for growth is too good to pass up. “New Majestic Hotel holds great sentimental value to me. It is one of my first hotel ventures and, in many ways, Unlisted Collection’s flagship hotel. But when a golden opportunity comes up at the perfect time, you have to take it. To grow, you have to be open to change,” he said.
