Singapore’s annual LGBT festival IndigNation may have come and gone just last month, culminating in the third edition of the popular IndigNation Queer Films Festival at The Projector, but they’re not the only ones who are giving the LGBT community more visibility in Singapore. Golden Village will also be organizing their annual LGBT-centric film festival on Sep 27-Oct 8, showcasing films curated by the Singapore Film Society.
For the ninth year, Golden Village’s Love & Pride Film Festival returns for 12 days once again at their Suntec City and Great World City outlets. On the opening night, the festival will see the screening of an original documentary that will definitely hit home for many.
Looking For? zeroes in on the impact of dating apps (more specifically, hook-up ones like Jack’d and Grindr) and how it has changed people’s perception of love and relationships, through interviews with 60 men living in seven different cities. The screening follows with an intimate Q&A session with the film’s editor, Huang Chia-Wen.
Other films include Being 17, an intense French drama film about a boy’s mother taking in his son’s bully under her care because his mother has fallen ill (obviously romance ensues after); Don’t Call Me Son, where a boy finds out that he was stolen as a child, meets his biological family and tries to cope with the repercussions; and more.
