After two successful editions, the Singapore Cult and Underground Film Festival (SCUFF) is back once again to showcase a slew of eclectic, not-for-the-mainstream type of films on screen. This year’s line-up is looking pretty exciting, with an untamed mix of films across a spectrum of genres.
It kicks off on Feb 24-26 with American black and white horror film The Eyes of My Mother, a visually disturbing portrayal of a woman going on a killing spree after being traumatized from witnessing her mother’s murder as a child; followed by Coffy, an all-time favorite Blaxpoitation flick about a black woman looking for vigilante justice after her younger sister gets sent to the hospital because of because of a drug peddler. There’s also Prison on Fire, that OG Hong Kong prison film which stars two of the biggest Hong Kong movie actors Chow Yun Fatt and Tony Leung. And of course, there’s that comprehensive documentary about the legendary alternative rock band The Stooges making its premiere in Singapore.
