The Covid-19 pandemic has made it an inconvenient time to date. In cities worldwide, individuals are resorting to dating apps to find a lockdown mate (aka quarantine bae) to spend some alone time with.
But here in Singapore, flouting laws and regulations regarding social distancing is a clear violation of the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) Act, and can result in hefty penalties such as fines and jail time—not to mention the social consequences of putting public health in jeopardy.
So during this circuit breaker period, while singles continue to find love (or mere entertainment) on dating apps, couples living apart have been searching for ways to stay close despite the government-mandated isolation. Many are essentially engaging in a long distance relationship.
We want to know how you and your partner are dating amid the Covid-19 pandemic this circuit breaker period? Provide us a short summary (150 words or less) of what new and creative methods you guys have adopted to remain connected—whether it’s working out together via Skype video calls or setting up online dinner dates. Drop us a Facebook message, slide into our DMs on Instagram or even email us at [email protected] and let us know.
Tell us in the most heartwarming, interesting, or comical way—it’s entirely up to you. The best entries will be published by us as a short story compilation, and photos (of yourselves doing cute couple things together on Zoom, of that incredible care package you sent over to your SO etc.) are supremely welcome too.
If you’ve been meeting one another in-person secretly however, keep it hush; we don’t need to know about that.
The cut off date for story entries is May 14, 2020.
