There’s just something charming about doing things under a starry night sky. Whether it be catching a ballet performance, a Shakespearean theatre production or simply rewatching an old flick, the experience becomes heightened when done outdoors under a moonlit evening.
Giving us that very experience and filling up three of our weeks this Aug 1-18 is Films At The Fort 2019, the seventh edition of the open-air cinema that takes place at Fort Canning Green every year.
Arrive early (doors open 5pm) before showtime to soak in the festival atmosphere amidst live music, as well as to fill up on gourmet nosh provided by The Providore—get anything from vegetarian spiced falafels ($12.50) to beef burgers with chips ($19.50)—while imbibing fine Casillero del Diablo wines.
As for the selection of films this year, once again look forward to a good variety of award-winning movies that span various genres. From hard-hitting screenings of biographical thriller Hotel Mumbai and prison drama The Shawshank Redemption, to more light-hearted shows like comedy The Hustle and romcom Long Shot, there’s a flick for any mood you’re in.
Films At The Fort 2019 takes place Thu-Sun from Aug 1-18 at Fort Canning Green. Screenings each night begin 7.45pm while doors open from 5pm. Tickets $31.80 available here.
