Whether you’re into lighthearted comedies or compelling dramas, this month, streaming platforms are offering new and fascinating shows sure to leave you on a binge. Here are five must-watch shows and TV series coming to Netflix, HBO and Disney+ this November, with some even offering a local twist.
Folklore
HBO Asia Original horror anthology series Folklore is back. Deeply rooted in superstitions and myths across Asia, the new six-episode season will continue to delve into traditions and beliefs, as it travels through six different territories including Thailand, Indonesia and Singapore. Directing the local episode will be esteemed Singaporean filmmaker Nicole Midori Woodford, offering the story of a troubled mother who begins to see a ghostly yet familiar figure in her home. Season two premieres Nov 14 at 10pm exclusively on HBO Go and HBO. A new episode will debut every Sunday at the same time.
Love Hard
Here’s a holiday rom-com that’ll help you welcome the festive season. In Love Hard, Nina Dobrev is a journalist who thinks she has met her perfect match, only to learn she’s been catfished after flying 3,000 miles to surprise him for Christmas. Arriving on Netflix on Nov 5.
Love Never Lies
If Netflix’s dating shows like Love is Blind and Too Hot to Handle have been on your binged list, then mark your calendars for Love Never Lies. In this reality show, six couples are subjected to an EyeDetect lie detector test where lies cost money, and the truth comes with an enticing cash prize.
Red Notice
Netflix’s new and premiering movie Red Notice showcases a heavyweight cast of Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Renolds and Gal Gadot, so it is safe to say that expectations are high for this one. Station 19
A spin-off of the ever-popular Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19 follows a group of heroic firefighters based in Seattle. Returning to Disney+ for a fifth season on Nov 3, watch as the family of friends are challenged mentally and physically in a post-pandemic world. In celebration of the new season, Disney+ Singapore has even engaged local singer-songwriters Iman Fandi and Gentle Bones to feature a new rendition of Gentle Bones’ “You’re My Superhero” that encourages its listeners and commends those who continue to exemplify qualities of strength, love, faith and hope on a daily basis.
