Enjoy them at the cinema or online at The Projector Plus

Female filmmakers are finally getting the recognition they deserve as seen in the 2021 Oscar nominations, but that’s only just the beginning.

And knowing exactly that, local arthouse cinema The Projector has kicked off its Women Make Film programme once again this March, an all-year-round series that celebrates women at its theatres and online at The Projector Plus.

From now till the end of the year, audiences will be able to catch an entire slew of films specially curated to showcase women filmmakers and voices.

First, catch American comedy-drama Kajillionaire at the cinema which sees the unravelling of a petty crime family when a stranger becomes a part of their schemes.

Then, mark your calendars for the award-winning Nomadland, as the Chloe Zhao-directed flick follows one woman’s journey through the American West as a modern-day nomad after losing it all in the Great Recession.

There are also Projector Plus-exclusives that are must-see movies, including Madeline’s Madeline and Capernaum. The former spotlights the story of a troubled teenager who joins an experimental theatre troupe, while the latter is Nadine Labaki’s film about a streetwise Lebanese boy who sues his parents for giving birth to him.

But that’s not all. As The Projector’s Women Make Film runs all throughout 2021, you can expect other acclaimed, female-centric shows to be added to the mix. Simply check out the updated list here.
