The Book Thief (USA)

Adapted from the international bestseller, the film follows young Liesel (Sophie Nélisse) who is sent to a foster family in World War II Germany. She learns to read from her foster father (Geoffery Rush) and a refugee harbored in their basement, transforming the lives of the people around her amidst the horrors of war.

Schoolgirl Jung-Mi (Kang Byul) watches a notorious “forbidden video” that was retrieved from the Internet with the help of her sister’s boyfriend Joon-Hyuk (Joo Won). Strange events happen to Jung-Mi, and older sister See-Hee (Park Bo Young) has to now find ways to save her.

A one-sided attraction and a dissertation on Antony Firingee, a 19th-century Bengali language folk poet, leads Gujarati boy Rohit Mehta (Jishu Sengupta) to Chandernagore. He meets librarian Kushal Hazra (Prasenjit Chatterjee)—the latter who believes he is the reincarnation of the poet. While Rohit gains insight into the poet’s life, Kushal struggles with memories of his past life.

Features an acclaimed performance by Bruce Dern, and directed by Alexander Payne of Sideways fame.

A retelling of selected chapters from Wu Cheng En’s classical novel Journey To The West that details how The Monkey King rebels against the Jade Emperor of the Heaven. Starring Donnie Yen in the titular role, with Chow Yun-fat and Aaron Kwok. Also showing in 3D.
