5 new and returning shows to catch on Netflix this October

Hit Korean series Squid Game may have taken Netflix by storm, but October’s coming, and a whole new slew of programmes await. Simply mark your calendars for these five new and returning shows, sure to have you busting out the popcorn nightly.

Britney vs Spears

The life of world-famous singer and performer Britney Spears has always been a hot topic, and perhaps even more so now as she fights to regain her own freedom. In case you’ve been living under a rock, Spears is currently fighting her conservatorship and this new Netflix documentary promises to reveal new truths about the #FreeBritney movement.

Love is Blind Brazil

The wildly fascinating dating experiment that is Love is Blind has arrived in Brazil to hook up its country’s singles. Again, the contestants vying for true love won’t get to see one another face-to-face, so we foresee plenty of stiff competition and obstacles as the couples attempt to make it down the aisle.

Inspired by Stephanie Land’s New York Times bestselling memoir Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay and a Mother’s Will to Survive, Netflix’s Maid will see Alex, a single mother turning to housecleaning to make ends meet. Escaping an abusive relationship, Alex will have to care for her daughter Maddy as she overcomes homelessness.

Pretty Smart

Now for a lighthearted American sitcom that will star familiar Disney Channel faces, turn your attention to Pretty Smart. With Emily Osment and Greg Sulkin on the show, Pretty Smart definitely gives off New Girl and Hannah Montana vibes, but we’ll let you be the judge. Just check out the trailer above.

We hope you’ve kept up with You, the Netflix thriller series about harmless crushes quickly becoming sinister when obsessions develop. And with the curveball and plot twists in season two, you’ll want to catch You season 3 when it drops on Oct 15.
